My interest is in transforming hand hammered copper holloware into images derived from elements of nature. Because I want my work to emulate the look of objects from coral reefs, volcanoes, black holes and the like, I completely change the appearance of the metal surfaces with the use of color. In order to have the full palette of hues found in nature I developed my own methods of patination. Colors are custom created by grinding pigments and suspending them in a variety of sealers and binding agents.
