Approaching jewellery from a painting background, my work has developed through constant exploration of colour, texture, and surface. Metal is the structure on which I assemble and layer enamels, gemstones and pearls. My labor is currently focused on a series utilizing designs and decorative elements that have persisted through many time frames and cultures. Adding my own voice to an age-old conversation, I further reinterpret these classic forms through lighthearted play on colour, repetition, form and construction. Utilizing traditional techniques, I aim to create beautiful objects of adornment inspired by historical design yet re-contextualized through a thoughtful contemporary approach.
